new seat post for a mongoose bike?
i recently bought a 26 inch rim mongoose dual suspension MTB. When adjusting everything to my personal preferences i discovered that the provided seat post is incredibly short. I know that bikes with rear suspensions typically have abbreviated posts, because of the swing arm, but this one wont even adjust to the proper height for me to ride it without passing the minimum insertion/maximum height mark. I obviously don't want to ride it like this, so could anyone tell me where I could find a replacement for it? all I can find on the net are carbon fiber ones that are upwards of 100-200 bucks.
Near the minimum insertion mark there should be a number that is shown by 2 digits, a decimal point, and another digit- for example 27.2 .
Look for that number. This is the seatpost diameter. Now, call around to local bike shops to see if they have any posts that size in stock... say "Do you have any alloy 27.2 (or whatever) seat posts in stock?" My guess is that they will, and will cost about $30 for a 300mm (11") long model.
Just be careful that the post clears the swingarm.
