How important are full body suspensions?
I'm looking to buy a bike. I mostly bike around the city but like riding my bike rough (riding it down stairs, jump off sidewalks etc.), so I was looking for mountain bikes. I have one question though. They sell bikes mountain bikes, with either just front dork suspensions, like this:

How important are dual suspensions? Do they make the ride more comfortable and reduce the shock on the bike? While I would logically think the answer would be yes, I'm confused because most higher end mountain bikes that sell for thousands of dollars also have only front suspensions.
If you like riding hard neither of these bikes will stand up. They will both be very heavy yet flimsy. Good mountain bikes will handle rough use with proper maintenance, but cost a lot more. There are many levels of quality for every part on a bike, the high end bikes will be very light, yet rugged as well, but the components used to build bikes like that are expensive. The addition of rear suspension on an inexpensive bike actually lowers overall quality, you have to pay for the additional components used in the rear suspension by using cheaper parts on the rest of the bike. Rear suspension is helpful on bumpy, rocky trails in the woods if is good quality, but bikes like that cost well over $1000. For your purposes, no rear suspension would be better, lighter, and less expensive
