I am going to ride moderate trails and on road when I buy my new mountain bike should I get a 21 or 24 speed?
What is better. 21 or 24 speed mountain bikes for on and off road riding?
Being you are considering a 21 & 24 speed bikes, I am assuming you are looking at bikes from a box Store there are not many quality bikes out there that have a 7 speed rear cassette. In this case spend a few bucks more and go to a good bike shop and get a bike that will last and not weight 40lbs ( like box store bikes do) as heavy bikes are not fun to ride. Box store bikes are not intended for off-road use despite how they look. Check the seat post and you will find a warning label about there intended use. Now when you get to a bike shop most of the bike will be 27 speed you might find a few 24 but in this case the differences are small so go with the best deal.
